MTV, formally known as Music Television was brought to the screens in New York City in the year of 1981. Its first and main priority was to share different genres of music videos to viewers. Following this, the first music video to be announced onto MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles, and the second was by Pat Benatar's song of "You Better Run."
MTV went through many milestones before 2011, including the companies 20th anniversary in 2001 and the 25th anniversary in 2006. For the 25th anniversary, MTV decided that they would allow viewers to watch the first 1 hour of MTV created, including videos from artists like The Buggles, Pat Benatar, Rod Stewart.
MTV's pop culture spread from only households in New Jersey to many different places like Europe, Asia and Latin America. By the time of 1980, MTV transformed from not only music videos but reality series like "The Real World" and by 1992, other programs were introduced like The Osbournes, My Super Sweet 16 and The Hills.
